I decided to work on something fun for back to school! I love to create meaningful and rigorous activities, but sometimes you just need to let your hair down and have some fun with your kids! So I created a flip-up All About Me book.
I am always searching for activities that will fill up some of those LONG days while you are training training training for the future days ahead. You know what I am talking about…
“Boys and girls let’s practice how to sit at our desks correctly.” Glance at the clock 8:02. “Now let’s try that again, but this time I want you to remember not to talk to your table friends.” Glance at the clock 8:02 still. Take a swig of coffee and breathe deeply while scanning the room at your new little ones. Wonder what you were thinking becoming a teacher. Push ugly thoughts away. Exhale. Smile. “Boys and girls let’s now practice holding a pencil correctly.” Glance at the clock. 8:02. Is the clock broken? No. my friend. It’s not broken.
Here’s how I plan to use this:
- Getting to know me- back to school time
- One page a day for a week
- Share square practice- we all do one page and we practice turn and talk
- Bulletin board display with self portraits
Now I have to take a moment and let you know that this little flip book looking all cute and flippy actually caused me some serious grief. It was not easy figuring out this baby! I mean double sided upside down. Are you kidding me? Different sizes? I teach first grade. I felt like I was doing geometry with calculus on the side. But alas….I triumphed!
Anyway if you think you need some flip up in your life, you can check it out by clicking the picture!

Love this idea! 🙂 It's added to my wish list!
This idea is great. I am so jealous i didn't think of it first 🙂 I have several of these type of flip books in my store and know how painstaking they are to make. Great job, Reagan!

LOVE it!! And your story too!!
Love this! i just pinned it 🙂
Bless you for taking the time to figure out how to set up one of these documents! I haven't managed the patience yet. And this is SO unbelievably cute! I like how simple and yet still really informative this little book is. And BONUS that you even use it to teach turn-and-talk. I never thought of using something like this in that way. Totally BRILLIANT!!!
Kindly,
Theresa
