On Sunday I set off for Austin {45 minutes away} to present at my very first state conference with SDE! I was somewhere in the spectrum between hysterically nervous and overly excited with frequent bursts of rapidfirenervoustalk… This girl below was my absolute ROCK! It’s Kristen Smith from A Day in First Grade!
It didn’t take long for us to meet up with some friends for dinner but as you can tell iphones and dark restaurants just don’t cooperate! Katie Klohn has been a blog buddy for a couple of years and it’s always so fun to see her. She brought along some of her teamies and they were such fun!
Along for the fun was April from A Modern Teacher. She has also been one of my dearest bloggy friends for the least year or two… She’s adorable!
Later in the day, Crystal Radke from Kreative in Kinder showed up for some fun! LOVE HER! We made ourselves comfortable rearranging furniture and setting out math centers for my session the next morning… and taking terrible selfies
On the night of day two, we met up with other bloggers/teachers at Pappasitos in Austin. Rachelle from what the teacher wants came to town from Utah for the conference too so it was fun getting to meet her and welcome her to the great state of Texas.
Tuesday morning it was finally time for the big day!!! I promised my mom a picture so I sent her this selfie bright and early… #barneydress #barneywearsayellownecklace
I met up with some old friends and they brightened my morning and calmed my nerves! Remember Jana and Ashley from the classroom visit last year?!?!?!
Kristina came to learn and to be with ME! She’s cute as can be!!! I missed her terribly!
After I wrapped up my session, Rachelle was ready to take her turn and present on Guided Reading Mini Lessons. Awesome stuff!
This past week was exciting, amazing, nerve wracking, exhilarating, and FILLED with love!!!!! Teachers are the BEST people on Earth!
I plan to come to Vegas this Summer for the I teach first and the TPT conference, so hopefully I will be able to meet up with more friends! I hadn’t planned on coming, due to a family vacation, but the timing has worked out after all! Hope to see you in about 5 months!!

You were awesome at the conference! So glad I got to be there! Hope it will not be the last time I see you present!!!
I am hoping that I will be able to go to the TPT Conference! I am very excited about it (and going to Vegas, of course!) I think it will be great to meet some people that I've only "met" online!
Seeing all of that awesome stuff makes me wish I had been there for your presentation! Maybe you could do a mini-presentation in Vegas? 🙂 LOL. I love your math stuff!

Wow, your presentation looked great! Thank you for the awesome pics of your math tubs…now I want to do all of them! I better get to purchasing and printing!!!! All of you "up-and-coming bloggy teacher/presenters" are making conferences the THING TO ATTEND! (Even though I have been a conference and professional learning nerd for years anyway.) Do you know if there is an "I Teach 2nd" Conference? I don't think they should leave us out. 🙂 I have seen so much about the "I Teach K" conference in the past couple of years. I guess I could come to the the 1st grade one anyway. I have experience in all three grades. Great job! Have an awesome day!
