This week we distinguished between fiction and fact. We read some turkey favorites and then discussed the author’s purpose. Although we loved being entertained with fun and creative turkey favorites, we also enjoyed finding out facts about the fun loving {and delicious} turkeys!
Students began by writing turkey facts. I had them write each fact in a different color to help remind them that each fact would be a different feather when we go to our final stage of our writing. Once we edited for spelling, capitals, and punctuation, we were ready to begin the final draft!
Tada! Nerdy Birdy!!!

Cute Turkey facts!
Those are so cute, I can't get over them!!!
Hi, Reagan! What a cute "craftivity"…fun and educational at the same time. Wonderful way to sneak in the learning. Just a small observation though….my son wears glasses and is sometimes referred to as "nerdy" because of them. It is hurtful to him and I don't think most people even realize the painful association. I normally would not have given it any thought until my son started wearing glasses many years ago…now I am very tuned into that negative connotation. Maybe the turkey doesn't have to have glasses? Or…if you keep the glasses, call the turkeys "Brainy Birds" instead? Absolutely love, love your blog and am so inspired by all that you do.
