I know it is early to talk about December, but I am in charge of math on my team this year, and we are already planning December out!
I had a lot of requests to make a journal packet because so many of us are trying math journals this year. I took the concepts that we should be spiraling and I created 24 different “promptivities” to use in a math journal.
What I am showing here are just the activities, but you can have students write the explanations and the definitions for these concepts. These are CC aligned and Texas TEK aligned.
{I do have one money activity and for some this may not be necessary, but for us in Texas we are still teaching money}
Here are some examples of the interactive activities:
In the packet you will get a picture and explanation for each activity.
There are ten peel and stick prompts {30 to a page} and you can use avery 5160 labels or just print and cut them out yourself.
In my classroom, I mix and mingle the promptivities for my math journal to keep it fresh and exciting. On days when I need something quick I plan to break out the labels… On days when I want students to really take their time and create something in the journal I will use the interactive activities. I buy the brights papers at Wal Mart and it really adds a pop of excitement!
I put my math journals into a rotation of my guided math, however they can also be done whole group, small group, or for intervention.
If you don’t use math journals, the interactive activities would be great on construction paper too!
Click the top math journal cover to head to TpT and check it out!

I love that you use labels too. I use them for all kinds of things – exemplars, mentor sentences, etc. And I am loving all of your interactive journals. So creative.

Could you maybe make the peel and stick ones for kindergarten math journals?
the above comment was from me…Lucille [email protected]
Yes, please don't forget kindergarten!
This is spectacular Reagan! Love it!
This seriously looks amazing!!!!
I bought your December math Journal and I have a friend who wanted one that was more for 2nd grade.
Do you have something like that?
You have some great ideas that I would like to try. I clicked on the December cover at the top of this page to purchase it off of TPT. It didn’t take me to the like to buy this December Journal entries, but to Journal #4. I didn’t double check that is was the December Journal and bought it before I realized it. Then I searched TPT for this issue and it wasn’t on the site. Where may I buy the December Journal please? It may be older journal issues since most of thee posts are from 2013.
