Just a quick post to share what we are working on this week in math!
We are all about ten frames and number bonds this week! I really want
my students to have a concrete understanding of what makes up a number
10 and under before we move on beyond.
We spent the first
three weeks using objects to help us understand the numbers and how
they relate to each other, but now we are taking it a step further and
using pictorial representations of our objects.
This little lesson here was called shaky shaky drop.
{also what I call my third cup of coffee in the morn} I gave each
student a handful of 2 sided counters and they did the shaky shaky drop technique. After the drop, they colored what they had and then we worked on adding a matching number sentence.
Finally,
we folded it and placed it on our math journals. We have been so good
about putting a little bit of our learning in a journal each day!
These
math items came out of my Teacher’s Math Resource. It is standards
created. It does not follow a teacher’s manual or a math program. It
comes straight from the standards. This little bundle below is the first 9 weeks of school. I also have the first semester finished. It is 18 weeks of school.
I did finally crank out a very
abbreviated version of what I am covering this week. This is a pdf
document full of links to these items. {Click the pictures below and then be sure
to download it (little down pointing arrow) or the links will not work.}
I’m heading out of town for three days with some instructional gurus in our district so I am excited and a tad over planned!
Because I have been working on regular plans and sub plans, I just didn’t have the time to make better visual plans! I know you get it. Three days of sub plans is like a research paper, right?!?!

I like the game! Thanks for sharing the idea.

What kind of lesson plan format do you use that is able to be 8 pages long!? I am not loving my lesson plan format anymore, there isn't enough space! 🙂
omgosh…I think I need to do some shaky, shaky, drop with my kids!! Seriously. No joke.
Have I told you lately how fabulous you are? =)
