Last year towards the beginning of the school year, I shared my class’ graphs that we built together.
Each day for one week, I introduced a new graph and together, we built it!
After we built certain graphs, some students recreated the graphed amounts with unifix cubes and we were able to extend the comparisons even further! We added, compared, subtracted the differences, and analyzed data!
The students were the subject of their studies so the interest level was HIGH!
This year, I recreated my graphing titles and labels and put them into a packet to share with my best friends in blogging! THAT’S YOU! 🙂

They look great, thanks! As I was looking at your graphs, I was thinking, oh that's a cool idea to use their pictures. Then I remembered I used their pictures too. I had them on stickers with their name, but I love the look of the heads alone. So cute!

I love the idea of using the kids' pictures. Graphing is not my favorite thing to teach because the results are rarely "authentic". The kids don't seem to have a mind of their own. Despite all of the "Be your own person" chats and secret voting, they still vote based on what their friends are voting for and it drives me crazy! Some of my girls actually had some pretty elaborate hand signals and eye movements to let their friends know what to vote for. 🙂 Really?! Not once person likes hamburgers? Everyone wants an electric eel as a pet? You've ALL been to MARS? Ha! Those crazy kids! Thank you for being so generous with your lesson ideas!

Graphing GALORE!!! Fabulous Reagan! Now what is the fastest way to take those cute pics of the kiddos and get them printed out to use in the graphs? Do you have suggestions for keeping photos on hand? I simply LOVE that idea of incorporating their sweet faces with anchor charts!
