Hello Summer! This is the life! I have found that 8am with a cup of coffee, a sun shiny view, and the hum of my computer is just about the best thing ever. Pajamas till noon isn’t bad either…
I have been busy making a math resource that is going to guide and focus my instruction! I am really excited about teaching math this year. I finished 9 weeks worth of teaching concepts! Here’s what it looks like printed and placed in a notebook. Like a flip book!
This resource is for first grade primarily, but it has components that stretch K-2.
It contains Essential Questions, Big Ideas, Visual Posters, Math Word Wall Words {and their definitions shown on a ring below} It has work mats, lesson ideas, and some teaching aids like numbers and math symbols to use when teaching whole group.
I made this little mock bulletin board here in my office. It shows just a few things from unit 2. I would like to have a place to display our learning and especially the math word wall. So that’s the plan for now. We shall see when I get into the room how that will come about. Again this is just a small sample. I think my word wall will be separate from the visual posters. Each unit’s words are a different color.
What’s neat about this packet, is that it is concept based. This is a teacher’s resource so it is all about what the teacher needs to actually teach the concepts. I didn’t get hung up on writing out standards.
To help you understand this resource I made the first unit free! Try it out and see what ya think! The next two units shown here are also in my store. The only difference between the first unit and the next two, is that I did not put in lesson ideas or work mats. Since the first three weeks are mostly introduction of concepts that will be spiraled through the year, it is not as full of lesson ideas as units 2 and 3.
Click on each cover below to go to my store. There you can read the description and see the preview! Remember this first one is free so grab it to see if it’s a good fit!
Unit 1 Numeracy– The ability understand and work with numbers.
This is a bundle of units 1-3. This bundle is the first 9 weeks of school.
I am making these to cover the entire year. I will sell them in nine week bundles. I plan to be finished well before school begins in mid August, because I want to have them prepped and ready. What a dream to have a notebook of the year ready to go! I am really excited!
Last night, 2 ladies won the 9 week bundle on Facebook! Congrats Debby and Jenny!

This is fantastic! Can't wait to purchase these! Last year was my first year teaching and I didn't LOVE teaching math because our pacing guide was not good and our district's program did not fit with common core. This will be perfect for giving me direction in teaching math..can't wait to buy them and get it all organized! 🙂 Thanks for your hard work!
OMG! Love it! Thanks. I'll be back to purchase the rest.

Love it!!! And especially your mock bulletin board!!!
You are fantastic! Love these! Our district worked on creating our common core math units, but I love the idea of the posters of big ideas, essential Q's, etc. I started to do a math vocabulary word wall last year too. Are you planning on keeping the vocab for each unit up all year, and just adding the next unit's vocab as you go?
Also, is there any way you'd be willing to make your Essential Q's editable so that I can make them correspond exactly with my district's units??
I love this binder! I just found you through Pinterest! I am your newest follower!

How awesome Reagan!
I am so excited to follow your Math series!
I love your working bulletin board, specifically just for math concepts. Makes me want to build another wall in my room to give me more space for it!
I feel a HUGE hit happening here with this product.
My dear, you are AMAZING!

Good Morning Reagan! I love the Math binders–wonderful!!
Just wanted to share this thought with you! Our district adopted a new reading series for the upcoming year, all of the teachers are required to sign up for "training". I was the first person to arrive (college age son dropped me off early to keep car today 🙂 Well, guess who I thought of when I entered a plain, empty, dreary middle school classroom about an hour ago?
No other than the creative, inspiring teacher/trainer– Miss Reagan! I read your lovely post about your Luau themed math training. What a big difference it makes to be as passionate about education as you are! The ladies that are facilitating this training entered AFTER I did (I REALLY looked like an eager student-LOL!) Just wanted you to know how the contrast of this training reminded me of your motivating training Luau! As always, thanks for sharing your love of teaching with so many! Have a blessed Tuesday! Any chance you'd want to make this for 4th Grade?? 🙂
I just love your blog. I teach 7th grade math, but you make me want to teach elementary school! Everything you do is so cute and fun.
I love your Math Board very creative…hmmm 😉

I'm so excited to have found you. I've logged a lot of time looking at your many resources (just purchased this latest one). Your photos are SO HELPFUL! I can't get over how organized and inviting your space is. I truly appreciate your effort in developing Common Core materials. Thanks again for being truly inspirational and quite hilarious!
