Hope you didn’t have to squash too many dreams today to get your curriculum in!

New Adventures in First Grade
I love this post…it's a little bit like validation. As a first year teacher, I squash so many dreams and sometimes im unsure if I'm normal or delusional. Thanks for posting this. It made my day 🙂
That sounds almost exactly like the day I had! Good to know it's not just my class…
Lora
Don't feel bad. Every day is Dream-Squashing Day in Ms. B's room. You actually are nicer about it than me.
I say things like, "It's not normal to get stuck under your desk. Come out now," and
"You are never gonna steal my dice again."
Two things I actually said today.
Buzzing with Ms. B
Hilarious! Sounds like me on many Mondays!
haha! I had so many similar experiences today. rashes! swollen fingers! asthma! the works!
I had one of those days, too!
Pitner's Potpourri
I have 4 girls who I have threatened to put in an old folks home! There's ALWAYS something wrong – and if it happens to one of them, it will happen to the other!
They go to the nurse so much- I make them write their own nurse notes!!!

Well, I had a kid argue with me about a conversation I had with my nail lady! lol! I was telling them about how SHE told ME that she celebrates Chinese New Year for three days and he was arguing that she celebrates for a week. Um, I don't remember you being at my nail appointment with me, buddy. Were you? No? ok, move your clip.
Seriously?

Sunny Days In Second Grade
Ok. I have tried to post on your blog SO many times during the last couple of weeks and every time I click on comment, it freezes on me. I have no idea why?? Anyways, I'm finally glad I get to comment. I LOVE YOUR HAIR!! That is what I originally wanted to comment on, but there have been many reason since then as well! Sorry, long comment 😉

4th Grade Frolics
yay!!!!!!! I have tried everything!
Ay caramba! I feel your pain. I had two kids come in crying from recess today… one actually crying and one faking it (which is a normal occurence). The real cryer got to the room first, so I was talking to her and we worked it out and she was fine. Then the faker walked down the hall and I said, "Okay, you're fake crying, that's enough, thanks." He said, "I'm NOT fake crying!!!!!! Bobby said, 'Boo you' to me!!!" Seriously, kid? AH!!
Also I love when you write these posts!! Dream squashers unite!
Also I love that video!!!!! I downloaded the song and I play it sometimes when the kids are doing something (like getting ready to go home) suuuuuuuuper sloooooooooow and I say they have to be done when the song is over! Then I dance around while they hurry up.
Marvelous Multiagers!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!! 🙂 Love it. I can't think of any dreams I squashed today. Seriously. I think that's because I squash so many that it's just my normal teaching style.
LOVE that song! I need that song for my end of year slideshow.
A Teeny Tiny Teacher
Loving it! I had that day too. "Ms. T he got my spot under the table" (they were reading to self), or "Ms. T, is it lunch yet?", and "Ms. T, she took my pencil." Seriously, you guys are 3rd graders is what I wanted to say. Tomorrow I sub in 2nd and Wed. 1st….I just noticed it goes 3,2,1 🙂
Journey of a Substitute Teacher
good luck! 🙂 Hope it gets better each day! 🙂
You are SO real! Keep the faith and stay firm!
If it helps any, I spent ALL day helping 8th graders write their four-year plans with their parents and I actually encouraged dozens of dreams, I think.
I didn't squash a lot of dreams today but there is still four days left in this week! 🙂

Stories From Second
Ha Ha! Totally!
Mrs. Tice- I have a rash….it's fine, you'll live. Sit down.
Mrs. Tice- when I press my arm hard like this (pressing REALLY hard) it hurts. Me: Don't press it hard like that! Go sit down.
Ha ha!
Rowdy in First Grade
That sounds like a day in my room sometimes, too. Lately my students have microscopic cuts on their fingers that they think are going to kill them.

I squashed some dreams out today too and moved some clips I've never moved before. Tears were pouring out everywhere and I told them to tomorrow's another day. Yup I feel a little mean but I bet they won't interrupt me 8 times tomorrow or act silly on the carpet. Oh Mondays….
Rambling About Reading
I can comment today! WAHOO! It hasn't just been your blog that I have had "issues" with (although you ARE special to me)!
One of my *splats*(way more than a squash):
Edward Scissor Hands Jr: Ms. Price, my nose hurts.
Me: I am sorry but you are choosing to not be safe when you stick your scissors up your nose.
Ed Jr: I am trying to cut my boogers out
Me: Go Germ-x your scissors AGAIN and put them on my table. You are grounded from your scissors AGAIN!(All actually said in a calm voice)
I think that's what one of the S's in BSIS stands for…Bachelor of Science in Splatting! =)

Heather's Heart
Girl, I may not be squashin' 2nd graders dreams these days, but I sure do squash a 2 year olds dreams every day 🙁 my poor girl…I feel so bad for her sometimes!!
No Autumn, we can't go to the park right now
No Autumn, don't touch sissy's pacifier,
No Autumn, mommy's feeding sissy right now, I'll play blocks in a minute.
Careful Autumn!
my poor baby girl 🙁
The Teachers' Cauldron
Oh, I forgot the best one. Had to send a repeat offender to the nurse today because "It feels like I have a headache but I don't."
I couldn't help myself. I wrote it verbatim on the nurse's pass.
awesome!
Well said! Thanks for making me laugh… that sounds just like my days! Today, I got a lot of "My elbow hurts" (!?!?!). Dream squashers- that's really what we are, right 🙂 Have a great night!
If people only knew what teachers go through every day! Your post, along with many comments, made me laugh out loud. Kids! Gotta love them!

My favorite is what I call "silly" questions (God forbid I call them what they really are…stupid!) like "where do I turn in my paper? Really? They don't know this by now? So I refuse to answer them anymore and just put out my palm and ask them for $5 for an answer to their silly question. Works like a charm.
Dream squashing is a totally necessary evil for teaching if you ask me! Love reading yours though! Makes me feel so normal!
Hi There!
Your post cracked me up! 🙂 Thanks for sharing the video clip too. It's our district's "Pride Week" this week and this will be great to share with my kiddos as we talk and write about pride in ourselves!

How do certain posts get by me?!?!?
Gotta squash a little bug every now and then, right? Nice to know I'm not alone.
Guided Reading Group Time? "Don't interrupt me unless there's blood or barf" Somebody walks up to me I say "Blood? Barf? Buh Bye"

Crisscross Applesauce in First Grade
Not only did my class love the Will i am video, I'm hooked too! I'm trying to write out the lyrics for it so the kids can follow along. So I have to listen to it over and over, but I'm not complaining!!!
