As you may guess the number one reason I married my husband is because he can make me belly laugh daily. We are not in it for the looks, the money (um…teacher), or the high society (cue the banjos)….we are in it for the crazy laughs we can have. So needless to say the family is slightly sarcastic and we bond best when we laugh till we cry.
Today we decided to take the kids to see the new Chipmunk movie. They are 9 and 11. My 9 year old started crying when we announced the family outing at breakfast. Why you ask would a 9 year old boy cry over some family fun? It means that he has to get off his computer. Trust me, I was holding back my tears too. My husband (ultimate computer genius) knew immediately that the child was having computer withdrawals just coming to the table to eat breakfast as a family. So we had a LONG (2 minute) discussion about healthy boys and being addicted to the computer etc.
Well let me introduce you to my computer genius son…

his 9th birthday cake was his computer game character with a shirt that said I heart nerds. |
Needless to say he LOVES all things computers from playing them to fixing them to…well….BLOGGING!!!!
Today he started a new blog about his FAVORITE game EVER. It is called Roblox. Did you hear me? My nine year old woke up and started a blog. {{gush}}
Well on the way home from our movie, my son and I were talking HTML and he was saying the script outloud in the car. It sounded something like this: “Then I type game dot workspace dot Head semicolon parenthesis then another parenthesis remove” While he is saying his HTML code outloud, my husband interrupts and says, “BACKSLASH NERD!”
It fell silent in the car for about 2 LONG seconds then we all burst into hysterics.
Then when we got home he came out to tell me his favorite game in the world gave him a 24 hour ban for directing their traffic to his blog. Amazingly he didn’t cry…he was a little too impressed with himself for getting traffic on his blog. (Yup-He’s just like me-stat crazy)

I am pretty sure I am breaking the teacher blog rules BIG time by bragging blogging about my son so I am going to blog my December Currently with my buddy Farley at Oh Boy Fourth Grade now!
Link up HERE with Farley for your Currently December too!

oh my I hope blogging about your kids is not a rule because if it is I break it allll the time (maybe that's why I don't have 900 followers:/) Maybe I need a list of rules because there sure seems to be a lot of them…who made these rules exactly and who says we have to follow them? Do you think your son could find out for me??? lol glad we're not the only sarcastic family around!
Oh *my* goodness…
A. Your son is adorable and you *know* I will be checking out his blog just as soon as I finish here!

a) WE totally did NOT get married for the money either – teacher and firefighter! HELL-OOOOO poor folk!! ha!
b) I TOTALLY busted out laughing when he started his html talk…b/c I TOTALLY do NOT get that language! I know how to cut and paste when/where I need to (only SOMEtimes)…and that's about it! But I LOVE your husband's response best of all! haha!
C) phineas and ferb are highly annoying!
D) I sure hope blogging about your kids is against the rules…b/c I do it all the time (and I even sneak in the hubsters when I can)
E) awww – thanks for stalking me! 🙂 I'm sure for the few months that I'm off, I'll be stalking…at least once a day – ha! can't wait to get back to running either – yea!

Jen, I'm cracking up with your A, B, C {do you see the "leftover 5" in my post? I switched from numbers to letters because letters just "felt right". OY. And we have two teachers in this family so we are definitely NOT rolling in the dough – integrity? Yes – dough? No!
Reagan I SOOOO wish I were really close enough to meet up – I'm in Michigan! 🙁 You girls will have to post pics. Who all is meeting?

P.S. I'm following your son's blog…hope that makes his day 🙂

Your son's blog is too cute. I love his poll on the side and that a choice is "kinda failing" – haha!
Marvelous Multiagers!
Love your son's blog! Had never heard of Roblox before, but I'm showing it to my 9 year old son now! We're not in it for the money either – teacher and military, plus 4 kids! Oh well, our "platoon" has so much fun laughing and being silly together that we don't need any more money!
I have to disagree about one thing though…I'm kind of a Phineas & Ferb fan! I mean, their inventions are so creative and I loove Isabella – "Whatcha doing?". Not to mention it's one of the only shows left without sexual innuendo and crude humor, sigh.
By the way, was the movie any good? Thinking of going tomorrow – my 5 year old loves Chipmunks! and I hope it's not against the rules to blog about your kids because I do it all the time too!

Reagan, I love your little guy, and I have decided that I would like to have him in my class. He has a great vocabulary, as evidenced by his blog, so I know we would have great fun together! Hahaha!
I love that your son is following in your footsteps!!! Nerds, UNITE!! 🙂
I noticed you're at 943. Dang, girl!!!! Way to go!!! 🙂
I'm so so so jealous that you and Farley are going to meet up. I'm super happy for my meet up with Hadar and a few others but I'd love to meet up with you two, too. I can't wait to hear all about it!!!
A Teeny Tiny Teacher
Hi Reagan:
I left a comment on your son's blog. Amazing what kids can do these days… although I only understood a few words on the whole page!
Maybe I need to study Dolch words for technology–I am in need of remedial tutoring.
And Gaming? Well, that's another planet entirely. My gaming experience ended when Yahtzee and Uno were the "new" games…
Merry Christmas!

Finding JOY in 6th Grade
I did not understand anything about this post… 🙁 I’d love to start my own blog, but I don’t know how…
We got smart boards in our classrooms last year during the 2nd semester. This year I just couldn’t remember anything!!!! Not even how to start it! One of my students (first grade) showed me!
Do you have any advice on how to learn about blogging??? Would appreciate any. (Maybe send your son to me for Winter break?) Just kidding.
Thanks!
