Let’s face it, I could teach bats every day of October and still have a pile of things I didn’t get to fit in. But I want to share this Stellaluna Book Study that I have taught for the last 4 years. This is a great introductory book study for first grade. (or older kids needing some basic reading response skills) It is based on the book by Janell Cannon.
We do this book study in one week’s time. We teach bats at the same time for our science and it is just THE BEST WEEK EVER. Each day I read the book or we watch it online/retell it/read the pictures etc. Then, we focus in on one response the students will be responsible for. With as much or as little help as needed, students fill out their reading response sheets each day.
Do you LOVE to make super cute intellectually stimulating class charts??? {yes you do! They are all over my pinterest board} These reading response sheets look A-DOR-ABLE as big class charts too! Your students will cheer when you say it is time for STELLALUNA!!!
*To give credit where credit is due, I got the ideas for this from my team leader. She said there isn’t a true site that it came from. It is a compilation of ideas.*
Because the graphics I got to make this book study from scrappinsdoodles were so cute, I even threw in a math tub that focuses on adding numbers to 10.
