Everyone is a Scientist

Teachers know that every child looks at the world with wonder and curiosity!  Science is everywhere, and students are eager to understand the world around them!   I’m excited to share a new product line of science journals.  I LOVED talking to students as scientists and encouraging them to explore the world!   Students keep a notebook, just as a real scientist does!  This science journal has different daily interactive independent activities that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, STEM/STEAM/STREAM application, and WRITING during your science time!

All of the journal activities are sized to fit in either a composition book, or a spiral notebook.  If you want students to reflect, respond, experiment, and write in their journals, you can use these activities as a teaching point or a review/recap of learned information!

Each page contains a short “mini-lesson” of the skill being used, vocabulary that is highlighted, and the directions to do the activity or create the folding parts.

Volume 1

There will be 9 total volumes of journals through the school year.  Each volume contains over 20 different standards based activities.

The standards covered in volume one:
What is science?
Science tools
I am a scientist
My senses
Observation
Measuring
Comparing
Classifying
Sequencing
Science investigations
Scientific method
Design process
Materials {man-made and natural}
Scientists use technology
Science concepts
Apple science

Volume 2

Concepts covered in each volume are changing, but some will be repeated throughout the volumes with different subject matter.  For example, in volume one, students sort and classify objects by the properties hard and soft.  In volume 2, students classify and sort objects by texture and temperature.  This way students are exposed to a new subject matter while building upon what they know.

The standards covered in volume two:
Matter
Weight
Temperature
Hot and cold
Buoyancy {sink or float}
Change in matter {freeze and melt}
States of matter
Solid, liquids, and gases
Observation
Measuring
Comparing
Sequencing
Senses
Science investigations
Scientific method
Objects in the sky
Day and night
Sun and moon
Moon phases

More Concepts Covered

As Kristina and I complete future volumes, we will cover even more important scientific concepts!  Here’s a list of what is to come!  I have uploaded a growing bundle. Right now it contains volumes 1 and 2.  Each time I upload a new set, it will appear in the growing bundle file.  You can buy it for a discount off of buying all of the individual volumes.  If you need a concept covered and you don’t see it here, let me know!
